About Me

For fifteen years, I’ve worked as a writing coach, developmental editor, teacher and writing group facilitator. I work with all varieties of prose writers (short story writers, novelists, memoirists, screenplay writers, playwrights, and essayists). I help writers maintain a consistent writing habit, find community, become better self-editors, develop craft technique navigate the submissions process, approach their creative lives with a balance of rigor and playfulness, ask for critical feedback on their own terms (no, you don’t have to get “eviscerated” to get feedback on your work!), and translate feedback into actionable revisions.

I received an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2013 where I concentrated on fiction writing. I am the former fiction editor of Storychord.com, the former Director of and instructor for Pioneer Valley Writer’s Workshop’ Year long Manuscript Programs, and a fiction instructor/consultant for Grub Street. I was the winner of Dogwood: A Journal of Poetry and Prose’s 2021 Award in Fiction, I received an honorable mention in Glimmer Train’s 2019 Short Fiction Contest, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2016. My fiction has been published in The Laurel Review, The Foundling Review, Storychord.com, and The Waterwheel Review, and in Dogwood: A Journal of Poetry and Prose. I live in Western Massachusetts with my husband and sweet dog, Bella.
